What Is Subhadra Yojana

Subhadra Yojana gives cash directly to women, not to the male head of the household. The goal is to help women manage money on their own terms, build savings, and grow confidence in using a bank account. The name comes from Devi Subhadra, sister of Lord Jagannath, a figure who holds deep meaning in Odia culture. Payments land on two symbolic dates, Raksha Bandhan and Women’s Day, to tie the scheme to moments that already carry respect for women in the state.

The scheme covers the years 2024 to 2029, with ten payments planned in total. As of September 2026, five payments have reached beneficiaries. The fifth installment was released on August 28, 2026.

NFSA or SFSS ration cardConfirms automatic income eligibility
Income certificateNeeded only if you do not hold a ration card above

How to Apply For Subhadra Yojana

Applying happens in two stages. First you submit a form in person, then it gets entered into the online system.

  • Collect a free application form from your nearest Anganwadi Centre, Block Office, or Mo Seva Kendra. The form and the entire process cost nothing. Do not pay anyone for it.
  • Fill in your details exactly as they appear on your Aadhaar card, then submit the form at a Mo Seva Kendra or Common Service Centre, also called a Jana Seva Kendra.
  • Ask for a printed acknowledgement receipt when you submit.
  • Wait two to three days, then check the official portal to confirm your form has been digitized.
  • Complete e-KYC through OTP verification or biometric authentication at the centre.

A note on the mobile app. As of 2026, the public cannot apply or complete e-KYC through a mobile app. The Subhadra app on the Play Store exists only for authorized agencies conducting Aadhaar verification, not for general applicants. Use subhadra.odisha.gov.in on your phone’s browser instead, it works well on Chrome or Safari.

There is no single fixed last date to apply. The portal accepts new registrations on a rolling basis as women turn 21 or become newly eligible.

How to Check Your Application Status

Visit subhadra.odisha.gov.in and select the status check option. Enter your Aadhaar number or your application reference number, then verify with the OTP sent to your registered mobile number.
Your status will show as one of the following.

Status shownWhat it meansWhat to do
Application SubmittedYour form is in the queue for local reviewWait, no action needed yet
Under VerificationYour data is being checked at block or district levelCheck again after two weeks
ApprovedYou are confirmed for the next paymentKeep your bank account active
NPCI RejectedApproved, but the payment could not reach your bankVisit your bank to fix Aadhaar seeding
Application RejectedYou did not meet one of the eligibility conditionsFile an appeal at your Block Office
Payment CreditedMoney has been sent to your accountCheck your passbook or SMS confirmation

Beneficiary List and Payment List Are Different

Many women assume these two lists are the same. They are not. The Beneficiary List shows women whose applications have been approved. The Payment List shows women who actually received money for a specific payment date. You can appear on one list and not the other, most often because a bank linking issue blocked the transfer even after approval.

To check the Beneficiary List, go to the portal, select your District, then your Block or Urban Local Body, then your Gram Panchayat or Ward, and search using your name exactly as written on your Aadhaar card.

Fixing an NPCI Rejection

NPCI stands for the National Payments Corporation of India, the system that routes government payments to the correct bank account using your Aadhaar number. If your status shows NPCI Rejected, your application was approved, but your bank has not linked your account properly.

To fix it, visit your bank branch in person and ask for Aadhaar seeding or NPCI mapper activation. Bring your Aadhaar card and passbook. Ask for a written confirmation once done. It usually takes about a week for the update to reflect on the Subhadra portal.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Subhadra Yojana and how does it work?

It is an Odisha government scheme that pays eligible women 10,000 rupees a year for five years, sent directly to their bank account twice a year through Direct Benefit Transfer.

How do I apply for the scheme?

Collect a free form from an Anganwadi Centre, Block Office, or Mo Seva Kendra, submit it with your Aadhaar and bank details, then complete e-KYC in person or through the portal.

What are the eligibility criteria?

Women aged 21 to 60, permanent residents of Odisha, with household income below 2.5 lakh rupees a year, and a single holder Aadhaar linked bank account.

What documents do I need?

Aadhaar card, bank passbook, an NFSA or SFSS ration card or income certificate, residence proof, and a passport size photo.

What benefits does it offer?

50,000 rupees over five years, paid directly to the woman rather than the household head, with no fees and no middlemen.

Where do I get the official application form?

Only from subhadra.odisha.gov.in or your nearest Mo Seva Kendra. Never pay for a form or download one from an unofficial website.

Is there a last date to apply?

No fixed deadline exists. New applications are accepted on a rolling basis as women become newly eligible.

How do I check the beneficiary list for 2026?

Go to the official portal, select your District, Block, and Gram Panchayat, then search for your name using the exact spelling from your Aadhaar card.

When is the next installment?

The fifth payment was released on August 28, 2026 (Raksha Bandhan), following the same twice yearly schedule.

Which companies offer policies under this scheme?

None. This is a direct government cash transfer, not an insurance product. There are no private companies, agents, or policies involved. Apply only through the official Odisha government portal.

Can I buy plans through a mobile app?

There is nothing to buy. The only app connected to the scheme is used by authorized agencies for identity verification, not by the public, and not for any purchase.

Is the scheme available outside Odisha, such as in Bengaluru?

No. It is only for permanent residents of Odisha. It is not available in Karnataka or any other state.

Does Subhadra Yojana actually help women?

Public opinion is mixed, which is normal for a scheme this size. Over one crore women are enrolled, and the scheme has paid out several rounds on schedule. Supporters point to direct cash reaching women’s own accounts as meaningful progress. Critics raise questions about long term impact beyond the payment period. For verified facts rather than opinion, rely on the official portal.

A Final Note

Subhadra Yojana runs through 2029, with ten total payments planned. Rules and dates can shift, so treat this page as a starting point and confirm anything time sensitive, such as your exact status or payment date, on subhadra.odisha.gov.in before making a decision. If something here ever conflicts with the official portal, the portal is correct, and this page will be updated to match.
